I wish I could have been the photographer of this image, it's such a wonderful scene. I am fascinated with folk art, culture and music and often daydream of a life such as this.
English folk singer, Vashti Bunyan travelled by horse and cart.
I think I was a little frightened about getting these photographs processed - I tend to point...hold my breath...then click. I never really know how things will turn out, I never really plan a picture. I like to click when i'm moved by something, perhaps I try to capture the atmosphere of the moment, the mood and the feel. I like quirky defects within photographs and I believe that my ignorance towards photography science works well.
These four photographs are incredibly poignant; they take me back to a time of my life where feelings were strong, where actions spoke louder than words, where friendships were built and secrets were shared.
On May 7th 2010, I am going to be in Manchester Cathedral sitting, not too far away from Bianca and Sierra Casady whilst they please my ears with their haunting music.
I hope they wear their beards and their marker pen moustaches.
I would like to create a fashion shoot inspired by the eccentric musicians. Image is obviously a great part of their performance however unconventional it may be, a strange immalgamation of hip hop and urban wear, folk patterns and textures, wigs, masculine facial hair, face paint, tribal masks and animal costume.
