Life Through A Plastic Lense
The "Sagrada Familia" in Barcelona is possibly one of the most photographed landmarks in Europe. I took this set of images using my plastic camera. I wanted to capture Gaudi's magnificent work in an unconventional way, a photographic approach very different to that of the majority of tourists who flock to see this wonderful piece of architecture. I feel that this series of photographs completely and utterly illustrate the feel and the atmosphere and the space of the grand cathedral. The images are incredibly eerie and convey a sense of spirituality and religious awe, something that perhaps you would not gain an impression of from your average digital shot.
Nancy Rexroth
"Iowa"
Nancy Rexroth completed the series "Iowa" during the 1970's. She worked with a plastic "Diana" camera.
"The Diana's made for feelings. Diana images are often something you might see faintly in the background of a photograph... sometimes, I feel I could step over the edge of a frame and walk backwards into this unknown region. Then I would keep right on walking..."

Joanne Burke
Joanne Burke is a British artist and designer. Her creations are inspired by magic and fantasy. She is the author and illustrator of the book "Biba Dolls" which pays homage to the London Biba boutique of the 1960's / 1970's.
I think she is beautiful. Her eclectic image is fabulous and she confidently layers crochet.
Joanne is influenced heavily by the 1930's and the 1970's glitter era, which appears through her art aswell as her style.
She lives in a completely different world. Surrounding herself with history and nostalgia. I think if we ever met, we would get on just swell!

" if you can't get a man to propose to you, you might as well be dead "
" Having been inspired by the romantic photography in Lula, and moved by an article depicting the longing and the sadness, the desperation and downfall of the women of Grey Gardens, I was keen to explore nostalgia, fantasy, loneliness and abandonement. This set of four images portray a young woman, lost in time, mind and body using unconventional ways of photography, set in beautiful local suroundings. "
